Catch - Rough Cut
Here is the link to my rough cut for task 5 - Catch.
There are a series of things that I plan to improve before I release the final cut of my opening sequence.
For example:
- Include Film 4 Productions ident.
- Create and apply a ident for 'Z.L.C. Productions'.
- Remove high pitched noise and include tension building music instead.
- Ensure that each title appears for the same length of time.
- Include videos of riots and mock up newspapers rather than the nurse scene.
- Include a flash forward title.
- Shoot and include footage of the initial decisions to capture those particular children.
Improving these parts of my opening sequence will improve it because it will flow better in terms of setting up the film and story, it will make it look more professional, and will hopefully get me a better grade.
I'm not sure about the noise/ interference running through the entire piece - at the beginning and end, maybe, but it makes it very hard to watch. I think you need music for the chase.
ReplyDelete00:00 - you should start with the Film 4 ident and a ZLC ident; let me know if you need help with these
00:16 - I would make the date about 10 years in the future. I would also use a sans-serif font - more "sci-fi"
I wonder if a better backing might be mock news reports about riots (possibly we could find something from e.g. CHildren of Men or Dawn of the Dead, or something?)
It might be just me, but it sometimes seems like the red fade-in on the titles is quicker than at other times?
00:35 - Not quite sure what to make of your opening shot? Does not seem to connect with anything else in the clip
0:51 - I definitely think there needs to be something else sound-wise; the tone doesn't work
1:03 - Not sure about the scream...
1:15 - I think the actor titles might be on for a smidgen too long...
1:57 - when the two guys in black come on, definitely needs some sort of musical accompaniment
2:49 - you could do with some production credits (e.g. camera, editor, producer, writer, director)
I think you need a scene before the chase. Could be just about 30s, with a couple of shadowy characters in a dark room... "Next targets acquired" "When?" "Tomorrow" "Where?" "The usual place" "How many?" "6" and a shot of a couple of files with pictures of your main girls on.
Zoe - I have done an edit with some music; it's on my blog, or on vimeo (http://vimeo.com/86779449)
ReplyDeleteThere are some slight tweaks needed with the titles as well, thinking about it (for example, the studio credit). Re-watch and you will see what I mean
ReplyDeleteHi Sir, Thanks for the feedback most of the things you picked up on were things that I wanted to tweak.
