Just Another Boyband Final Cut
Yesterday after posting a screengrab of me exporting my most recent video there was an error and I had to restart the exporting process. Then once it had finally exported I then had an issue with uploading my video onto my blog as the file was too large. So I then had to upload my video to Vimeo where I also had problems uploading to I gave up trying at school and then didn't find the time to upload it last night.
But I did manage to upload the video onto Vimeo earlier today. So here it is mine and Amy's 'Just Another Boyband'. To watch just click the link below:
P.S. The reason why only the first scene's was posted was because that those were the storyboards that I drew up. Amy drew up the second scene and still has not uploaded them despite being reminded multiple times. Sorry for the inconvenience.
0:00 - some reasonable continity here, although you do break the 180 degree rule at about 0:18s
ReplyDelete0:28 - camera is a little shaky here, and you need to be aware of the autofocus (it's why the image keeps zooming in and out slightly)
0:29 - There's a slight continuity glitch here, where you cut to the female character entering from the left; look at where the characters are looking
0:30 - The action match here works well
0:36 - Continuity seems fine between shots, although you need to be careful of sound; generally, you shouldn't be able to here the different qualities. You need to take the sound from one of the shots and try to match it, if you can.
0:52 - There is a good range of shots here, although you slightly cut off the dialogue when you return to the LS
0:57 - There is a slightly dodgy edit here (before they exit [into what appears to be a cupboard...!]
1:34 - The shot/ reverse shot sequencing works well here. You need to be aware of the white balance (this is why some of the shots look yellow and some look blue). There's a setting on the camera you will need to check. Otherwise, we could try to deal with it in post-production, although not as easy
2:02 - do be aware of the limitations of the camera when shooting dialogue
2:24 - during the "I'm doing this because..." sequence, it might be more effective to cut between the LS and CUs of the band/ judges, to exagerate the emotional effect
2:47 - obviously, there's an issue here with the editing of the song. I think the best way of shooting this might have been multi-camera (ideally a two/ three camera setup with one master shot and one/ two mobile cameras shooting CU/ 2 shots) editing in judges' reactions
2:52 - the edit here is not necessary (you jump from an LS to another LS)
3:08 - There is probably too much of the song, considering the fact that most of it is shot in undedited LS
3:19 - The 2-shot of the judges is effective
3:40 - I like the CUs of the band members, although do make sure the continuity holds in terms of expression/ pose
4:05 - you hold some of the shots for a little longer than might be expected
It's a while since I've heard SClub7...
This is a pretty good effort; some of the continuity holds up and you've generally kept to the rules, with a couple of exceptions. I think that a little judicious editing wouldn't hurt and you might want to think about the implications of sound for your final piece. You should also experiment with the white balance functions. But you have demonstrated good progression from your previous project; well done.
